Amphora Symposium

The symposium will be led by Pedro Ribeiro, esteemed Portuguese winemaker and amphora specialist. Pedro will present a talk on international amphora winemaking practices, followed by a curated tasting of amphora wines from around the world.

Pedro Ribeiro, CEO and head winemaker of Herdade do Rocim. Pedro has been a key figure in the global resurgence of amphora-fermented wines, spearheading Portugal’s Amphora Wine Day and elevating vinho de talha into the international spotlight. With years of hands-on experience and a deep respect for tradition, Pedro will lead a comparative tasting and amphora wines from around the world, offering technical insight into clay vessel fermentation, maceration practices, oxidative management, and aging potential.

The tasting will be accompanied by an open discussion between Pedro and South African winemakers, offering a rare opportunity to share insights and experiences.
